Our legislative team and local affiliate leaders worked extremely hard during this challenging session to advocate for the rights of our members across the Commonwealth.
We were more than disappointed with the Governor’s veto of our collective bargaining bill and will be formally strategizing with our labor coalition partners to bring this proposed legislation back next year.
After many years of hard work and disappointment, we are happy to announce funding for statewide firefighter cancer screenings was included in the approved 2026-2028 Commonwealth of Virginia budget. This is a big win for the health and safety of Virginia’s firefighters.
The legislative agenda for 2027 has been approved by the VPFF Board of Directors and is being developed by the VPFF Legislative Committee.
For any questions regarding this past session or our 2027 priorities, please contact your Local President, District Vice President, or our Director of Governmental Affairs.
