Kurt Detrick serves as President of the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters (VPFF), representing more than 11,000 professional firefighters and emergency medical personnel across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Kurt has served as President of IAFF Local 539 in Portsmouth for over a decade and previously served as the VPFF 6th District Vice President, and past President of Local 4145 in Frederick County. Throughout his career in organized labor, he has been actively involved in collective bargaining efforts, legislative advocacy, health and safety initiatives, and statewide labor coalition building.
He has served on the VPFF Legislative Committee, chaired the VPFF Health and Safety Committee, and serves on the Board of Directors for the VPFF Charitable Foundation. Kurt has also instructed labor leaders across Virginia on collective bargaining and labor relations.
A working fire officer with extensive experience in union leadership and government relations, Kurt is committed to strengthening the voice of professional firefighters through member engagement, legislative action, strategic organizing, and modernized union leadership.
