History book on the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters |
Attention all VPFF Local Affiliates:
The VPFF is currently in the process of gathering information, pictures, and other historical dates, events, and data for a history book on the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters. The book will chronicle the formation of the VPFF and its affiliates.
We are looking for material pertaining to the VPFF as well as to each IAFF Local in Virginia (must be in good standing with the VPFF).
There are currently almost 60 Locals in Virginia. We will be able to incorporate almost 2 pages of information per local.
We are looking for historic material from the beginning of your local, or pertaining to historic events within your local. This information might be (but is not limited to) IAFF charter date, when a convention was held in your locality, a date a legislator signed something into law for you, the date of a big initiative was put in place for your local ( for instance when you went to 24 hour shifts, or divided into 2 or 3 shifts), pictures of a Union banquet, Union event, or Fire prevention event where the Union was involved.
The information is up to you all to get submitted. Please do not hesitate to call about questions or comments. Images are helpful, but not necessary.
Submission guidelines are as follows:
All information will be verified by the Local President if it pertains to an individual Local. (We do not need verification up front, but it will help.)
All information should have a source if applicable for use in the book.
All pictures should be sent by one of the following methods:
