Memorandum of Understanding
Virginia Significant Accident Fatality
Examination
This memorandum of understanding is made
this 16 th day of November 2001, by and between all federal, state, county and
city responders to a Significant Accident or Fatality in Virginia.
The purpose of this plan is to set forth
guidance for response to a Significant
Accident or Fatality in multi-Jurisdisdiction Virginia.
It is understood that each responding agency has its own set of
operating guidelines and procedures. It
is also agreed that each agency recognizes and will implement the Unified
Command System should a situation occur that requires such action. This will be accomplished without any agency
losing or abdicating authority, responsibility or accountability.
It is understood that a
request for assistance from the Injured Jurisdiction must be made before a
response. It is also understood that
the amount of assistance given is up to the giving Jurisdiction.
By way of signature, agency representatives agree to implement the
VASAFE guidelines when needed.
